What is PayPal Pay in 3?

PayPal Pay in 3 is an interest-free loan that lets you split the cost of your order into 3 payments, with the first taken at time of purchase and subsequent payments due every month on the same date. It’s a great way to spread the cost of larger items, and a helpful tool to help manage your budget more effectively.

Pay in 3 is an unregulated credit agreement, so you will have fewer protections under this agreement than you would under a regulated credit agreement. Carefully consider whether the purchase is affordable and how you will make the repayments. Be aware of the possible impact of using Pay in 3 and of missing payments, including making other borrowing more difficult or more expensive.

How to use PayPal Pay in 3 on the Vionic UK site?

  1. Browse our shoes and add your chosen pair/s to bag.
  2. Checkout and proceed to the payments page, please tick the PayPal payment option and then select “Pay Later”.
  3. If you don’t have a PayPal account, you can set one up at this stage.
  4. Once logged in you might already be eligible for Pay in 3. If not, PayPal will make a quick decision and - if approved - you can make your first payment today. The second payment will be charged on the same day in the second month, and the third payment on the third month.
  5. Please be aware that not everyone is eligible for PayPal Pay in 3. Your eligibility may also change with time - where you have been approved to use Pay in 3 in the past, you may find this decision has been changed based on automated checks carried out by PayPal.

What is the minimum and maximum purchase amount eligible for Pay in 3?

The minimum purchase amount is £30, while the maximum is £2,000.

What is the number of payments?

Your order will be split into 3 interest-free payments.

What is the time between payments?

The first payment is made at the point of eligible purchase, with the next two payments made automatically on the same date over the next two months. For example, for a purchase made on the 25th April, the first payment will be captured on this day, then the second payment would be taken on 25th May, and the third payment would be taken on 25th June.

Are there any late fees?

With Pay in 3, there is no interest, no late fees, and no setup fees.

Will I be able to use PayPal Pay in 3?

PayPal Pay in 3 is offered to a growing number of PayPal UK customers. PayPal may decide not to offer PayPal Pay in 3 as a payment option in certain circumstances, including where their checks suggest an increased risk of fraud, or where data they hold suggests you may not be eligible based on your financial position or history. The checks PayPal run are with an external credit reference agency; this search will only be visible to you and will not affect your credit score. If you choose PayPal Pay in 3 as your payment method when you check out with PayPal, you will be taken through the application process. You will get a decision instantly, but not everyone is approved based on the checks they carry out.

Can PayPal Pay in 3 ever impact my credit score?

When applying for a PayPal Pay in 3, PayPal may conduct a “soft” credit check if they need more information to make a decision. “Soft” credit checks are not visible to others companies, so have no impact on your credit score or any future credit applications you may wish to make. They do however share some data on your repayment history with Transunion – and although this does not impact your credit score, this data will be visible to other companies and may impact your ability to obtain credit from other lenders and the cost of accessing it.
